Cranmer, Venegas earn All-Conference honors, lead Women's Golf to fifth place finish at 2018 OAC Championships

WEST LAFAYETTE — Freshman Lydia Cranmer (Farmington Hills, Mich./Ladywood) and senior Raven Venegas (Lima/Shawnee) earned All-Conference honors to lead the Ohio Northern women's golf team at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships Friday-Sunday at River Greens Golf Course.
The Polar Bears (27-18 overall) finished fifth of eight teams with a 54-hole total of 354-336-340—1030.
The top 14 individuals and ties earned All-Conference accolades.
Cranmer finished third out of 40 golfers on the par 73, 5811-yard course course with an 83-80-82—245. Cranmer was on the leader board the entire tournament as she was second after 18 holes and third after the second round.
Venegas battled back from a first round 91 to shoot 82-82 over the final 36 holes to finish tied for 13th with a 255 to earn All-OAC kudos.
This marks the fifth consecutive season that ONU placed at least two golfers on the All-OAC team.
Mount Union rallied from third place with a final round 322 to edge Otterbein for the team title 1003-1012. John Carroll was third with a 1013 and Capital was fourth with a 1024.
Junior Suzanne Short (Findlay) and finished 22nd with a 91-84-88—263, junior Caitlin Silva (Hilliard/Bradley) was 23rd with an 89-90-88—267 and sophomore Taylor Daniel (Columbia City, Ind.) tied for 35th with a 100-93-91—284.
Marietta's Jackie Cunningham won Medalist honors by 22 strokes with a 1-over par 74-74-72—220.
