Freshman Lydia Cranmer leads Women's Golf to victory in season-opening ONU Fall Classic

HARROD — Freshman Lydia Cranmer (Farmington Hills, Mich./Ladywood) teed off her collegiate career in style, winning Medalist honors and leading the Ohio Northern women's golf team to a victory in the season-opening ONU Fall Classic Saturday and Sunday at Colonial Golfers Club.
The Polar Bears (2-0) comfortably won the tri-match by 65 strokes with a 335-356—391 on the par-72, 5909-yard course.
Ohio Wesleyan was second with a 379-377—756 and Heidelberg was third with a 373-385—758.
Cranmer fired an 82-84—166 to win the individual title by five strokes over junior teammate Suzanne Short (Findlay), who carded a 79-92—171.
Junior Caitlin Silva (Hilliard/Bradley) completed a 1-2-3 ONU finish with an 86-86—172 and sophomore Taylor Daniel (Columbia City, Ind.) was fifth with an 88-94—182.
The Polar Bears will return to action Friday-Saturday at the Ohio Wesleyan Fall Invitational.
