Women's golf tied for fifth after first day of Polar Bear Classic

HARROD -- The Ohio Northern women's golf team is tied for fifth place out of 11 teams after the first day of the annual Polar Bear Classic on Saturday at Colonial Golfers Club.
The Polar Bears (14-20 overall) have 357 strokes and are tied with Adrian (Mich.) for fifth place.
Northwestern Ohio is in first place with a 333, Olivet (Mich.) and Otterbein are tied for second with 350s and Capital is fourth with a 356.
Individually, sophomore Caitlin Silva (Hilliard/Bradley) is tied for eighth out of 67 golfers with a 14-over par 86 on the 5912-yard course to lead Ohio Northern
Senior Ariana Tomasula (Rocky River/Lutheran West) is tied for 10th with an 87, senior Heather Comer (DeGraff/Riverside) is tied for 24th with a 91 and sophomore Suzanne Short (Findlay) is tied for 33rd with a 93.
Faithe Carter and Natalia Quintero of UNOH are tied for Medalist honor with 81s.
The second and final round will be on Sunday with tee times at 8:30 am and 2 pm.
