ADA — The Ohio Northern women's golf team posted another strong finish during the 2014-15 season.
Under second-year head coach Chad Bucci, the Polar Bears finished 34-36 overall and were third in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The third place finish marks the eighth time in the last nine seasons that the ladies have finished among the top half of the conference.
Sophomores Ariana Tomasula and Hannah Whisler led the Polar Bears in 2015 as they both earned All-OAC honors.
All-Conference honors are based on the top 14 individual scores during the 36-hole OAC Championship hosted at River Greens Golf Course in West Lafayette.
Tomasula finished in eighth place with 178 strokes. The sophomore led the team during the 2015 season with an 88.3 average and a team-low round of 82 at the ONU Spring Equinox Classic.
Whisler finished with 182 strokes at the OAC Tournament, good enough for 12th place. She was second on the team with a 90.9 average and shot a season-low 87 during the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational.
As a team, Northern averaged 364.6 strokes per round, competing in 10 events on the year.
Senior Megan Conley, sophomore Heather Comer and sophomore Jennifer Hipskind also posted a solid year. Conley finished with a 92.3 average, Comer a 94.1 average, and Hipskind had a 95.9 average.
Hipskind also earned Academic All-Conference honors during the 2015 season.
The Polar Bears hosted two tournaments at the Colonial Golfers Club and posted third place finishes during both occasions.
Northern opened its spring season in Orlando, Florida as it faced off with Otterbein in a Ryder Cup style match at Disney World.
The Polar Bears then returned home for the ONU Spring Equinox Classic where they finished third of eight teams with 372 strokes.
The Polar Bears concluded the remainder of their schedule on the road participating in the Capital Spring Invitational, Ohio Wesleyan Invitational, and the Lourdes Invitational before rapping up the season with the 2015 OAC Championships where they finished third with 729 strokes.
