GRANVILLE — The Ohio Northern women's golf team opened its 2014-15 season with a ninth place finish at the 16-team DenisonInvitational Saturday and Sunday at the Granville Golf Course.

The Polar Bears (7-8 overall) finished with a 728 in the 36-hole tournament.

Northern was led by sophomore Ariana Tomasula, who finished tied for 26th out of 100 golfers with an 88-87—175.

Sophomore Hannah Whisler tied for 31st with an 88-89—188 and senior Megan Conley and sophomore Jennifer Hipskind tied for 65th with 190s.

Wittenberg won the tournament with a 637, Ursuline was second with a 658 and Bridgewater (Va.) was third with a 661.

The Polar Bears will return to action Sept. 13-14 at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational.
