Allen notches a double-double, Women's Basketball earns fifth straight win in 67-64 double overtime thriller over Otterbein

ADA — Senior Brooke Allen (Woodville/Woodmore) notched her seventh career double-double while the Ohio Northern women's basketball team earned its fifth straight win in a 67-64 double overtime thriller over Otterbein on Wednesday evening.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (17-7 Overall, 13-4 OAC), Otterbein (12-12 Overall, 8-9 OAC).

The Game
- Allen had 17 points and a season-high 13 rebounds.
- Junior Mackenzie Suprano (Cutler/Waterford) had a team-high 18 points and three steals.
- Fifth-year senior Kristen Luersman (Fort Jennings) led the team with five assists to go with six points and seven rebounds.
- Kyla Irby led Otterbein with 19 points.
- Otterbein led 13-12 at the end of the first quarter.
- Northern went on a 14-2 run to take a 26-18 lead with 1:40 left in the second quarter.
- ONU led 26-20 at halftime.
- Back-to-back shots by Suprano gave the Polar Bears their biggest lead of the game, leading 42-28 with 5:10 left in the third quarter.
- Ohio Northern led 43-39 at the end of the third quarter.
- An Otterbein jump shot at the buzzer sent the game into a first overtime, the score 56-56.
- The Cardinals went up 61-56 in the first overtime, but an and one from Allen and Suprano's two free throws and steal at the buzzer sent the game into a second overtime.
- A jump shot from Suprano put the Polar Bears up 66-62 with nine seconds left.
- Ohio Northern made 21-of-69 field goals for 30.4 percent and was 3-of-22 from beyond the arc for 13.6 percent, while Otterbein was 24-of-67 from the floor for 35.8 percent and finished 3-of-9 on 3-pointers for 33.3 percent.
- The Polar Bears made 22-of-30 free throws for 73.3 percent and the Cardinals were 13-of-18 from the line for 72.2 percent.
- Each team had 47 rebounds.

- Ohio Northern is now 63-36 all-time against Otterbein, including a 36-16 record in Ada.

- Luersman is now 8th in ONU history with 663 career rebounds. She also has scored 826 points in 100 career games.
- Allen ranks second in the OAC in field goal percentage at 55.9 percent.
- This is the 53rd season of Ohio Northern women's basketball. The Polar Bears are now 776-515 all-time in program history for a winning percentage of .601.
- Fifth-year head coach Mark Huelsman is now 85-38 at Ohio Northern, a winning percentage of .691.
