Suprano scores season-high 18 points to lead Women's Basketball in 84-58 win over Heidelberg

TIFFIN — Junior Mackenzie Suprano (Cutler/Waterford) scored a season-high 18 points to lead the Ohio Northern women's basketball team to a 84-58 win over Heidelberg on Wednesday afternoon.

- Records: Ohio Northern (15-7 Overall, 11-4 OAC), Heidelberg (3-19 Overall, 2-13 OAC).

The Game
- Suprano also led the Polar Bears with five steals.
- Senior Brooke Allen (Woodville/Woodmore) had 17 points.
- Suprano and Allen were both one rebound short of a double-double, each with a team-high nine rebounds.
- Fifth-year senior Kristen Luersman (Fort Jennings) added 11 points and four rebounds.
- Senior Abi Akamine (Lahaina, Hawaii/Lahainaluna) scored 10 points, four rebounds and had a team-high four assists.
- Emily Valencia led Heidelberg with 17 points.
- Northern started the game on a 12-0 run, with Allen and Luersman each scoring four points in the first 3:30 of the game.
- The Polar Bears led 21-15 at the end of the first quarter.
- ONU was leading 36-29 at halftime.
- Suprano made back-to-back 3-pointers in a 10-0 run during the third quarter.
- Northern out-scored the Student Princes 28-12 in the third quarter to make the score 64-41 going into the fourth quarter.
- Ohio Northern made 35-of-75 field goals for 46.7 percent and was 5-of-22 from beyond the arc for 22.7 percent, while Heidelberg was 19-of-42 from the floor for 45.2 percent and finished 4-of-11 on 3-pointers for 36.4 percent.
- The Polar Bears made 9-of-15 free throws for 60.0 percent and the Student Princes were 16-of-23 from the line for 69.6 percent.
