Mackenzie Suprano notches first career double-double as Women's Basketball wins at Otterbein 64-55

WESTERVILLE — Junior Mackenzie Suprano (Cutler/Waterford) notched her first career double-double to lead the Ohio Northern women's basketball team to a 64-55 victory at Otterbein on Wednesday evening
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (9-5 Overall, 5-2 OAC), Otterbein (8-6 Overall, 4-3 OAC).

The Game
- Suprano scored 10 points and had a career-high 10 rebounds.
- Fifth-year senior Kristen Luersman (Fort Jennings) led the team with 12 points and five assists to go with eight rebounds.
- Senior Abby Dickson (Germantown/Valley View) added nine points and led the team with four steals.
- Senior Abi Akamine (Lahaina, Hawaii/Lahainaluna) and sophomore Chloee Glenn (Glandorf/Ottawa-Glandorf) each added eight points.
- Kyla Irby led Otterbein with 15 points.
- Northern jumped out to a 13-2 lead in the first four minutes.
- Otterbein answered with a 10-2 run in the last 3:09 of the first period to make the score 15-12 after one quarter.
- ONU led 31-25 at halftime.
- The Cardinals cut the lead to two at the end of the third quarter, trailing 43-41.
- OU made a quick layup at the start of the fourth quarter to tie the game up.
- Senior Brooke Allen (Woodville/Woodmore) made a jump shot and tip-in to take back the lead for the Polar Bears with 7:50 left and Otterbein didn't get within four points for the rest of the game.
- Ohio Northern made 21-of-53 field goals for 39.6 percent and was 3-of-18 from beyond the arc for 16.7 percent, while Otterbein was 18-of-47 from the floor for 38.3 percent and finished 4-of-16 on 3-pointers for 25.0 percent.
- The Polar Bears made 19-of-27 free throws for 70.4 percent and the Cardinals were 15-of-17 from the line for 88.2 percent.
- ONU out-rebounded OU 37-28.

- Ohio Northern is now 62-36 all-time against Otterbein, including a 27-20 record in Westerville.
- Luersman is now 10th in ONU history with 620 career rebounds. She also has scored 768 points in 90 career games.
