Kristen Luersman scores 18, but Women's Basketball falls 70-60 at Capital

ADA — Fifth-year senior Kristen Luersman (Fort Jennings) scored 18 points, but the Ohio Northern women's basketball team fell 70-60 at Capital on Friday evening.

- Luersman also had a team-high seven rebounds and two steals.
- Junior Mackenzie Suprano (Cutler/Waterford) had nine points and five rebounds for the Polar Bears.
- Junior Noelle Ruane (St. Marys) led the team with five assists and added five rebounds.
- Seniors Abby Dickson (Germantown/Valley View) and Brooke Allen (Woodville/Woodmore) each added eight points for ONU.
- Capital was led by Samaree Perkins with 23 points.
- Capital started the game on a quick 8-2 run in the first 3:34.
- Luersman made two free throws and a layup in the last 41 seconds of the first quarter to cut the lead to 14-11.
- An 8-0 run by the Comets in the last 2:45 of the second quarter gave them a 35-23 lead at halftime.
- Luersman scored nine of her points in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 65-58 at one point, but CU held on to its lead to win.
- Ohio Northern made 22-of-60 field goals for 36.7 percent and was 5-of-27 from beyond the arc for 18.5 percent, while Capital was 21-of-48 from the floor for 43.8 percent and finished 11-of-26 on 3-pointers for 42.3 percent.
- The Polar Bears made 11-of-19 free throws for 57.9 percent and the Comets were 17-of-23 from the line for 73.9 percent.
- ONU out-rebounded CU 40-33.
