Senior All-American Brynn Serbin named OAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

ADA — Ohio Northern fifth-year senior All-American Brynn Serbin (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, sponsored by Midstream Lighting, for the week of Jan. 22-28.
This marks Serbin's fifth career OAC Player of the Week accolade, as she also earned the honor three times last season.
The latest recognition comes after Serbin led the Polar Bears to a 71-54 win over Otterbein and a 72-43 win over Mount Union last week while averaging 13.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.9 steals per game.
She put up 13 points and four rebounds while leading the team with four assists and six steals against Otterbein and led the team with 22 points and four steals while adding four rebounds against Mount Union.
As she continues to stuff the stat sheet, Serbin has become the first women's basketball player in ONU history to record a career with at least 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 300 assists and 200 steals.
In 113 career games at ONU, including 70 starts, Serbin has become the program's all-time leader in steals (276) and assists (353). She ranks 7th on ONU's all-time career scoring list with 1,164 points and is tied for third all-time in made 3-pointers (167), 12th all-time in made free throws (203), 14th all-time in rebounds (531) and 12th all-time in made field goals (397).
Named an All-American by D3hoops.com and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association in addition to earning OAC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors last season, Serbin entered the 2023-24 campaign as a D3hoops.com Preseason First Team All-American.
She enters the week leading the team in points per game (13.9), assists (58), steals (53) and made 3-pointers (35) and free throws (36). She ranks third in the OAC in assists, third in steals, fifth in scoring, third in made 3-pointers and 20th in rebounding.
The Polar Bears (12-6 overall, 10-2 OAC) return to action on Wednesday at Heidelberg (3-16 overall, 0-12 OAC) at 7 p.m.
