No. 18 Women's Basketball pours in school-record 17 three-pointers in impressive 90-47 victory over Mount Union

ADA — The No. 18 Ohio Northern women's basketball team poured in a school-record 17 three-pointers to post an impressive 90-47 victory over Mount Union on Saturday at the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 17-2 overall and stay on top of the Ohio Athletic Conference with an 11-1 record, while the Purple Raiders fall to 6-13, 3-9.
Northern finished the afternoon 17-of-28 from beyond the arc for a blistering 60.7 percent.
Sophomores Jada Benjamin (Parma/Valley Forge) and Abi Akamine (Lahaina, Hawaii/Lahainaluna) each went 4-for-4 from range to lead the ONU onslaught.
In all, eight different Polar Bears nailed three-pointers in the contest.
Northern made 7-of-9 three-pointers in a second quarter that saw the hosts outscore Mount Union 28-6 to hold a commanding 51-19 lead at intermission.
ONU emptied its bench early in the fourth quarter and still enjoyed a 16-10 scoring advantage in the final period.
Benjamin led Ohio Northern in scoring with 16 points. Akamine added 13 points and sophomore Brooke Allen (Woodville/Woodmore) chipped in 12 points for the hosts.
Senior Brynn Serbin (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) dished out a career-high eight assists to go with five points.
The Purple Raiders were led by Dae Dae Nash with nine points.
Ohio Northern made 32-of-58 field goals for 55.2 percent, while Mount Union made 18-of-65 field goals for 27.7 and was 7-of-34 from beyond the arc for 20.6.
ONU was 9-of-12 from the free-throw line for 75.0, and UMU was 4-of-6 for 66.7 percent.
Northern out-rebounded Mount by a 41-34 margin.
The Polar Bears return to action on Wednesday with a home contest against Otterbein at 7 pm at the ONU Sports Center.
