Brooke Allen, Jacob Reed named Polar Bear of the Month winners for December

ADA — Sophomore women's basketball player Brooke Allen (Woodville/Woodmore) and sophomore wrestler Jacob Reed (Lancaster) have been selected as the Ohio Northern athletic department's Polar Bear of the Month award winners for December.
Allen, a center, helped the Polar Bears go 6-0 in December as part of a current seven-game win streak going into tonight's game at Otterbein. She totaled 63 points and 30 rebounds in December for an average of 10.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.
Allen scored a career-high 18 points in ONU's 57-52 win over Wilmington on Dec. 7 and added a career-best nine rebounds in a 57-41 victory over Capital on Dec. 17.
She has played in all 11 of Northern's games this season, starting 10 of them, and is averaging 10.6 points and 4.3 rebounds in 20.2 minutes per game.
Reed continued his outstanding 2022-23 season in December competing in the ONU Invitational and the Wilkes (Pa.) Open.
He went a perfect 5-0 to win the 141-pound weight class title in helping lead the Polar Bears to the team championship at the ONU Invitational on Dec. 3 and posted a 4-0 mark to win his weight class at the non-scoring Wilkes Open on Dec. 22.
Reed is 23-0 on the year with 10 falls, one technical fall and five major decisions. He is ranked No. 2 nationally at 141 pounds by D3wrestle.com and No. 1 by WrestleStat.
Ranked No. 19 in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association tournament poll, the Polar Bears are 10-0 in dual meets this season and return to action on Thursday at Mount Saint Joseph.
