GRANVILLE — Senior Britt Lauck (Lima/Shawnee) scored a game-high 18 points to lead No. 23 Ohio Northern to the Denison Tip-Off Tournament title and a 56-44 victory over the hosts on Saturday afternoon at Livingston Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears improve to 3-0 overall while the Big Red fall to 1-2.
Lauck and junior Lindsey Black (Urbana/Graham) were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Senior Amy Bullimore (Morrow/Little Miami) added 13 points for ONU.
Northern used an 8-0 run to take control of the game early, going up 14-4 with 4:27 left in the first quarter.
ONU led 18-11 after the first period and out-scored DU 13-2 to extend its lead to 31-13 with 2:57 left in the half.
Denison would pull within 34-25 with 5:30 left in the third, but Ohio Northern would score the next nine points to take a commanding 45-25 lead with 1:48 to go in the quarter.
The Polar Bears made 21-of-62 field goal attempts for 33.9 percent and were 5-of-16 from 3-point range for 31.3 percent, while the Big Red were 19-of-52 from the floor for 36.5 percent and were 2-of-15 for 13.3 percent.
Denison was led by Emily Krumpe with 10 points.
ONU out-rebounded DU 38-36.
