Women's Basketball opens home schedule with 73-58 win over Kenyon

ADA – The Ohio Northern women's basketball team opened up its home schedule with a 73-58 victory over Kenyon, Tuesday night at the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 2-1 overall, while the Ladies fall to 2-2 on the season.
Senior Jeanne Bockey had a game-high 22 points, followed by sophomore Morgan Dumbaugh with 14. Junior Kara Dysert just missed her third straight double-double, recording 10 points and nine rebounds.
The Polar Bears started the first half on a 10-2 run capped off by a field goal by Dumbaugh. Kenyon then kicked it into high gear, going on an 9-0 tear to take their first lead of the game on a jumper by Kayla Ernst.
Northern held close, tying the score on a Bockey 3-pointer at the 7:11 mark, and regained the lead with another jumper less than a minute later.
Dumbaugh closed out the half with a last second jumper in the paint for the 28-22 lead at the break.
ONU stayed solid through the second half, never falling behind throughout the rest of the contest. The Polar Bears even put a double-digit cushion on their lead, initially on free throws by Joanna Snyder.
Leading Kenyon in scoring and rebounding was Morgan Korinek with 15 points and 10 boards. Kat Powers and Maureen Hirt each followed up with 12 points each.Northern now has a 5-3 all-time record against Kenyon, avenging a 58-55 loss to the Ladies last season.
The Polar Bears hit the hardwood again next Wednesday on the road at Albion (Mich.) for a 7:30 p.m. bout.
