Men's Cross Country finishes 11th of 33 at SUNY-Geneseo Invitational

Geneso, N.Y. — The Ohio Northern men's cross country team finished 11th out of 33 teams at the Mike Woods SUNY-Geneso XC Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

The Basics

• Record: Ohio Northern (71-22 Overall)
• Race Info: The event was an 8,000-meter race held at the National Warplane Museum.
• ONU placed 11th out of 33 collegiate varsity teams with 445 points.

• The Polar Bears finished 11th out of 33 scoring teams.
• #8 SUNY-Greeseo won the team title with 41 points, #7 RPI placed 2nd with 54 points, #9 Carnegie Mellon finished 3rd with 80 points and #24 John Carroll finished fourth with 115 points.

Top ONU Performers

• Senior Ryan Massie (Beavercreek) led the Polar Bears across the finish line in 25:24 to finish 47th out of 405 runners.
• Senior Trey Masterson (Tiffin/Hopewell-Loudon) was 65th in 25:38.
• Fifth-year Senior Jared Swartz (Columbia Station) was 88th in 26:00.
• Senior Keefer McClure (Ottawa Hills) finished 119th in 26:22.
• Freshman Christopher Bond (Franklin) finished 124th in a career best 26:25.

Notables

• Ohio Northern bested Division II opponent Lock Haven (Pa.). 
• There were five ranked teams that ran at the meet, incuding three ranked in the top ten. 
• 16th-year head coach Jason Maus is now 1569-419 as head coach of the ONU men's cross country program and is the winningest coach in program history.
