Men's Cross Country finishes 9th of 25 teams at SUNY Geneseo Invitational

GENESEO, N.Y. — The Ohio Northern men's cross country team finished ninth out of 25 teams at the 42nd Annual SUNY Geneseo Mike Woods Invitational Saturday morning at the National Warplane Museum.

- The Polar Bears were the only OAC school to compete and finished second out of four among Ohio schools. Northern defeated Wittenberg and Oberlin and fell to Case Western Reserve by just 26 points.
- No. 6 Carnegie Mellon (Pa.) won the race with 31 points, No. 12 Lynchburg (Va.) was second with 50, No. 14 Johns Hopkins (Md.) was third with 87, No. 15 SUNY-Geneseo was fourth with 114, No. 30 Washington & Lee (Va.) was fifth with 169, Brockport State (N.Y.) was sixth with 170 and No. 8 R.P.I. (N.Y.) was seventh with 194.
Top ONU Performers
- Junior Ryan Massie (Beavercreek) led the Polar Bears across the finish line with a career-best effort of 24:25 to finish 28th of 376 runners.
- Junior Trey Masterson (Tiffin/Hopewell Loudon) was 52nd in a career-low 25:06.
- Sophomore Jacob Clouse (Alvada/New Riegel) was 65th in a career-low 25:15.
- Senior Jared Swartz (Columbia Station/Columbia) was 82nd in a career-low 25:29.
- Senior Aaron Guzman (Lebanon) was 88th in a career-low 25:32
- Senior Kyle Roth (Rockford/Parkway) was 90th in a season-low 25:33.
- Senior Ian Ackenhausen (Xenia/Legacy Christian Academy) was 124th in a career-low 25:57.
Notables
- The meet was the regular season finale for the Polar Bears.
- ONU will host the OAC Championships on Oct. 28 and will compete in the NCAA Great Lakes Regionals at Akron on Nov. 11.
- The NCAA III Championships are slated for Nov. 18 at Newville, Pa.
