Kyle Roth leads Men's Cross Country to 7th-place finish at Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble

OBERLIN— The Ohio Northern men's cross country team finished seventh of 32 teams Saturday morning at the Inter-Regional Rumble on the campus of Oberlin College.
The Polar Bears (77-25 overall) scored 238 points and were led by junior Kyle Roth (Rockford/Parkway), who finished 28th of 299 runners in a personal-best time of 25:55.6 on the 8,000-meter course.
No. 8 Carnegie Mellon captured the team title, scoring 40 points.
Sophomore Corey Rinehart (Galena/Olentangy Berlin) was 52nd in 26:17.9, sophomore Trey Masterson (Tiffin/Hopewell-Loudon) was 53rd in 26:18.0 and sophomore Ryan Massie (Beavercreek) was 56th in 26:20.0. Senior Breydan Hann (Wooster) was 64th in 26:27.3 to round out the team scoring finishes.
The times for Rinehart and Massie set new personal bests.
Juniors Jared Swartz (Columbia Station/Columbia), Aaron Guzman (Lebanon) and Braden Schaser (Fostoria/Lakota), fifth-year senior Caden Sauerbrey (Dresden/Tri-Valley) and sophomore Keefer McClure (Toledo/Ottawa Hills) also competed in the invitational race.
Swartz was 73rd in 26:34.4, Guzman was 91st 26:47.7, Sauerbrey was 97th in 26:52.2, Schaser was 100th in 26:55.8 and McClure was 117th in 27:10.8. The times for Swartz and McClure marked new career-bests.
Enrique Salazar, of Manchester (Ind.), was the top overall finisher, running a time of 24:58.0.
The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday, Oct. 29, at the OAC Championships at Muskingum.
