ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Ohio Northern men's cross country team finished third of 25 teams at the Rochester (N.Y.) Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Genesee Valley Park.

The Polar Bears (34-2 overall) scored 131 points, finishing behind NYU with 39 points and Buffalo (N.Y.) with 126 points.

Junior Kyle Roth (Rockford/Parkway) led the Polar Bears across the finish line, placing sixth of 292 runners overall with a personal-best time of 26:13 on the 8,000-meter course.

Senior Breydan Hann (Wooster) was 17th in 26:32, sophomore Trey Masterson (Tiffin/Hopewell/Loudon) was 27th in 26:47, junior Ian Ackenhausen (Xenia/Legacy Christian Academy) was 37th in 27:02, junior Jared Swartz (Columbia Station/Columbia) was 44th in 27:06, sophomore Ryan Massie (Beavercreek) was 47th in 27:09, and junior Braden Schaser (Fostoria/Lakota) was 62nd in 27:24 to round out ONU's top seven finishers.

The times for Massie and Schaser were career bests.

NYU's Ryan Tobin was the top overall finisher, running a time of 25:38.

The Polar Bears return to action next week as the junior varsity runners compete at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational on Friday while the varsity runners compete in the Pre-NCAA Meet at Forest Akers East Golf Course in East Lansing, Mich., on Saturday.
