Men's Cross Country finishes third at Knight Invitational at Calvin (Mich.)
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Ohio Northern men's cross country team finished third of 17 teams that participated at the 2011 Knight Invitational hosted by Calvin (Mich.), Saturday morning.
Winning the event was host and No. 5-ranked Calvin (Mich.) with 37 points, followed by Allegheny (Pa.) with 81. Northern came in with 117 points and rounding out the top five were Mount Union with 134 points and Cornerstone (mich.) with 184 points.
Junior Ben Ankrom was the first Polar Bear to cross the finish line and finished 13th overall in a career-low 25:12. Senior Dan Smith finished 21st overall in a career-best 25:43, followed by sophomore Mark Berton in 25th place in a career-low 25:53.
Junior Kenton Holliday crossed the finish line 28th overall in a career-best 26:09 and classmate Michael Simmons finishing 30th in a career-low 26:10.
Next up for the Polar Bears is the All-Ohio Championships at Cedarville; the race is set for a 2 p.m. start on Sept. 30.
