Men's Cross Country has strong showing at UW-Oshkosh's Brooks Invitational, finishing 19th of 47 teams

WINNECONNE, Wis. — The Ohio Northern men's cross country team finished 19th of 47 scoring teams at the Brooks Invitational, hosted by UW-Oshkosh at Lake Breeze Golf Course.
The Invitational hosted 50 total men's teams, including 11 Top-25 squads. The event was an opportunity for squads to preview the course to be used for the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on Nov. 19.
The Polar Bears, now 69-24 overall this season, finished with 576 points. Winning the race was first-ranked North Central (Ill.) with 49 points, followed by fifth-ranked Washington (Mo.) at 137 points.
No. 29 Wheaton (Ill.) took third with 154 points, No. 3-ranked Calvin (Mich.) took fourth place at 156 points and rounding out the top five team finishes was host No. 8 UW-Oshkosh with 158 points.
The first Polar Bear to cross the finish line was junior Ben Ankrom, who finished 96th overall in 26:31. Sophomore Mark Bertonfinished in 26:37, followed by junior Kenton Holiday at 26:44. Senior Dan Smith finished the race in 26:45, followed by freshman Nathan Rosenbaum in 26:48.
Winning the race overall was UW-Stout's Tim Nelson in 24:45.
Northern takes a weekend off before hosting the OAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Oct. 29, at Lost Creek Golf Course in Lima, Ohio. The men's race is set for noon.
