Ackenhausen, Masterson win races to lead Men's Indoor Track and Field at Polar Bear Final Qualifier

ADA — The Men's Indoor Track and Field team finished its regular season Friday and Saturday by hosting the Polar Bear Final Qualifier.

- Fifth-year senior Ian Ackenhausen (Xenia/Legacy Christian Academy) and senior Trey Masterson (Tiffin/Hopewell-Loudon) each won events to lead the Polar Bears.
- Ackenhausen won the 3,000-meter run in 8:58.05, while Masterson won the mile run in a career-best 4:19.74.
- Junior Brett Greer (Mentor) was second in the 60 in a career-best 6.96 seconds. He also finished fifth in the 200 in a career-best :22.63.
- The distance medley relay team of senior Ryan Massie (Beavercreek), senior Ross Schlatter (Curtice/Genoa), fifth-year senior Trey Myers (Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne) and Masterson were second in 10:04.22.
- Senior J.T. Basco (Painesville/Harvey) was third in the 3k in 9:00.45 and senior Keefer McClure (Ottawa Hills) was fourth in 9:04.15.
- Senior Tyrese Barker (Columbus/Bishop Hartley) was third in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.46 seconds. seconds.
- Sophomore Oliver Hendricks (Vandalia/Butler) was fourth in the 800 in 2:02.81.
Notables
- Greer's 6.96 mark in the 60 moves him into a sixth place tie all-time in ONU history in the event.
- The DMR relay team's 10:04.22 is the second-fastest time in school history. It also moved them into 17th place nationally in the event.
- Senior All-American Jordan Dean (Cleveland/Villa Angels-Saint Joseph) entered the weekend ranked fifth in the 400 at :48.22.
- Sophomore C.J. Boothby (Milford/Clermont Northeastern) entered the weekend tied for fourth nationally in the long jump at 7.35 meters and tied for 8th nationally in the 60 at 6.78 seconds.
- Head Coach Jason Maus is in his 16th year at Ohio Northern and is 701-165 in men's indoor track and field for a winning percentage of .810.
