Dean, Robbins lead Men's Indoor Track and Field to victory at Rob and Patty Lydic Invitational in home opener

ADA — Junior Connor Robbins (Marion/River Valley) won the two throwing events and senior Jordan Dean (Cleveland/Villa Angela-Saint Joseph) ran the second-fastest time in school history in the 500, leading the Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field team to a victory in its 2024-25 home opener on Friday night with the Rob and Patty Lydic Invitational at the ONU Sports Center.

Top ONU Performers
- Robbins won the shot put with a heave of 14.31 meters and captured the weight throw with a toss of 16.30 meters.
- Dean ran the second-fastest time in school history in the 500, finishing second in 1:05.37.
- Sophomore Grant Butler (Marion/River Valley) and junior Stephen Mangira (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) finished 1-2 in the long jump at 6.59 and 6.39 meters, respectively.
- Sophomore Easton Silva (Fremont/Ross) and freshman Grayson Dowell (Waynesville) finished 1-2 in the pole vault, clearing 4.10 meters and 3.80 meters, respectively.
- Sophomore Gavin Miller (Johnson City, Tenn./Science Hill) won the high jump by clearing 1.89 meters.
- Senior Ryan Massie (Beavercreek) won the mile run in 4:25.13 with senior Trey Masterson (Tiffin/Hopewell-Loudon) right behind in second in 4:25.35.
- Sophomore C.J. Boothby (Milford/Clermont Northeastern) won the 60 dash in :06.90, followed in second by junior Brett Greer (Mentor) in :07.12.
- Freshman Carter Black (Franklin) won the 800 in 2:09.20.
- Freshman J.D. Dillman (Bethel) was second in the triple jump at 13.08 meters.
- Senior Cooper Koch (Waynesville) had a personal best effort to finish second in the weight throw at 60 meters.
- Freshman Chris Bond (Franklin) won the 3000 in 9:04.64 and senior Trent Babcock (Painesville/Riverside) was second in 9:14.95.
- The 4x200 relay team of senior Sam Fisher (Akron/Revere), and sophomore Grant Conn (Medina/Buckeye Senior), freshman Curtis Ware (Findlay/Van Buren) and senior Torrance Nichols (Fairfield) won in 1:36.73.
- The 4x400 relay team of Boothby, freshman Luke Lazarich (Celina), freshman Roman Medley (Piqua) and sophomore Carter Byers (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) won in 3:32.56.
Notables
- A ceremony was held before the meet to unveil a new state of the art graphics board, which was donated by Rob and Patty Lydic.
- The meet consisted of 17 events, including six field events, nine running events and two relays.
- The top two finishers for each team scored points in the event.
- Robbins' throw of 53' 5.75" in the weight throw puts him 6th all-time in ONU history in the event.
- His toss of 46' 11.5" in the shot moves him into a 10th place tie on ONU's all-time list in the event.
- Lazarich was third in the 60 hurdles in :08.72, which places him 9th all-time at ONU in the event.
- Head Coach Jason Maus is in his 16th year at Ohio Northern and is 663-160 in men's indoor track and field for a winning percentage of .806.
