Five Polar Bears named to College Sports Communicators Men’s Track and Field and Cross Country Academic All-District Team

ADA — Ohio Northern seniors Ian Ackenhausen (Xenia/Legacy Christian Academy) and Jared Swartz (Columbia Station/Columbia), juniors Ryan Massie (Beavercreek) and Trey Masterson (Tiffin/Hopewell Loudon) and sophomore Jacob Clouse (Alvada/New Riegel) were named to the 2023-24 Men's Track and Field and Cross Country Academic All-District Team by College Sports Communicators.
All five student-athletes are members of both the cross country and track and field teams at ONU.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, each student-athlete must have a GPA of at least 3.50 and must have posted an individual top 50 mark in the region in an individual event (XC, indoor or outdoor).
An accounting major, Ackenhausen ranked 31st in the Great Lakes Region in the 3,000-meter dash indoors and was 41st in the 1500 outdoors.
He is also a two-time Academic All-OAC honoree.
Swartz is a three-time Academic All-Conference award winner.
He was 41st in the region indoors in the 5000. Outdoors, he was 26th in the 10,000 and was 39th in the 5000.
In cross country, Swartz was All-Conference with an 18th place finish and was All-Region with a 30th place finish in those respective championships this fall.
Massie is a two-time Academic All-District and two-time Academic All-OAC honoree and is majoring in computer engineering.
He earned All-Region honors with a 20th place finish at the Regional Cross Country Championships this fall and was All-OAC in cross country with a seventh place finish at the OAC Championships.
Massie also ranked 24th in the mile indoors, was 19th in the 5000 and was 27th in the 1500 outdoors this season.
Masterson is a two-time Academic All-Region honoree and has earned All-Region accolades twice in his career.
The civil engineering major was also an All-OAC honoree in the indoor 5,000 in 2023 and was All-Region and All-OAC in cross country this fall.
Clouse is a mechanical engineering major and is also an Academic All-OAC honoree.
He was 45th in the region in the 800 outdoors and was 30th in the region in cross country.
He was All-Conference in cross country with a 15th place finish.
