Trey Masterson breaks the All-Ohio Championships record in the 5000-meter run, leads Men's Outdoor Track and Field split-squad to fifth place finish

DELAWARE— Junior Trey Masterson (Tiffin/ Hopewell-Louden) broke the All-Ohio Championships record in the 5000m with a win in 14:51.47 to lead a split-squad of the Ohio Northern men's outdoor track and field team to a solid fifth place finish on Friday and Saturday at Ohio Wesleyan.

- Masterson's 14:51.47 broke the 26-year old meet record of 14:51.54 set in 1998 by Dave Cooper of Mount Union.
- In the Discus throw, junior Cooper Koch (Waynesville) placed second with a throw of 42.30.
- Junior Ross Schlatter (Curtice/Genoa) finished 3rd place in the 400m race with a time of 49.21 seconds.
- The 4x400 relay which included freshman Grant Conn (Medina/Buckeye Senior), sophomores Zach O'Neill (Holland/Maumee Valley Country Day), Ben Zimmerer (Liberty Township/Lakota West), and Schlatter placed 3rd with a time of 3:22.30.
- Sophomore Stephen Mangira (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) and freshman Grant Butler (Marion/River Valley) placed 3rd and 5th respectively in the long jump.
- O'Neill, sophomore Brett Greer (Mentor), freshman Martin Kreider (Clarksville/Clinton-Massie) and sophomore Solomon Lumb (Cincinnati/Sycamore) were on the 4x100 team and placed 4th.
- Junior Corey Rinehart (Gelena /Olentangy Berlin) placed 5th in the 1500 run in 4:02.56.
- Junior Trent Babcock (Painesville/Riverside) grabbed 5th place in the 10000 run with a time of 32:36.51.
- In the high jump, sophomore Bryce Stuart (Lucasville/Valley) placed 5th with a height of 1.91m.
Notables
- Ohio Northern competed with a split squad as some of the team is at Bucknell University this weekend.
- Schlatter is now tied for 10th on ONU's top 10 list in the 400 dash.
- Head Coach Jason Maus is in his 15th year at Ohio Northern and is 673-161 for men's outdoor track and field for a winning percentage of .809.
