4x100 relay team breaks school record again to lead Men’s Outdoor Track and Field at Mount Union Last Chance Meet

ALLIANCE — The 4x100 relay team broke the school record for the second straight week to lead the Ohio Northern men's outdoor track and field team at the Mount Union Last Chance Meet on Wednesday and Thursday at Kehres Stadium.
The Polar Bears (27-6 overall) competed in 10 events at the meet, which was not team scored.
Seniors Vini Souza (Spencerville), Hunter Kesler (Oakwood/Paulding) and Ollie Jacobs (DeGraff/Riverside) and sophomore Jordan Dean (Euclid/Villa Angela Saint Joseph) finished second in the 4x100 relay in a school-record :40.72, breaking the previous record time of :40.82 they ran at last week's Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet at Baldwin Wallace. That time ranks seventh nationally in NCAA Division III.
Kesler also competed in the 200 meters, finishing fifth in :21.90.
Sophomore Tyrese Barker (Columbus/Bishop Hartley) won the 110-meter hurdles in :15.06.
Junior Trey Myers (Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne) placed second in the 800 in a personal-best 1:51.43, which ranks third all-time at ONU.
Senior Nick Tangeman (Maria Stein/Marion Local) also posted a personal-best mark, finishing second in the triple jump at 13.40 meters, which ranks seventh all-time at ONU.
Tangeman added a fifth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.71 meters.
Junior Keegan Digby (Bowling Green/Otsego) was second in the shot put with a mark of 16.70 meters.
In the 5,000 meters, fifth-year senior Caden Sauerbrey (Dresden/Tri-Valley) was second in 15:58.14, and senior Brooks Blakeley (Versailles) was third in 16:14.47.
In the 1,500, freshman Jacob Clouse (Alvada/New Riegel) was seventh in 4:03.73, and sophomore J.T. Basco (Painesville/Thomas W. Harvey) was eighth in 4:10.67.
Senior Brandt Marshall (Orange Twp./Cory-Rawson) finished seventh in the pole vault with a mark of 4.30 meters.
The meet marked the end of ONU's 2023 regular-season schedule. The 2023 NCAA Division III Championships are scheduled for May 25-27 in Rochester, N.Y.
The top 22 individuals in each event and top 16 school relay teams will qualify for the national meet. National qualifiers will be announced on Friday.
The 4x100 relay team, Digby (shot put), Dean (400 meters) and the 4x400 relay team of Kesler, Myers, Dean and sophomore Ross Schlatter (Curtice/Genoa) are currently in line to qualify.
