Men’s Outdoor Track and Field places fifth of 13 teams at All-Ohio Championships; competes at Bucknell Classic

DELAWARE — The Ohio Northern men's outdoor track and field team placed fifth of 13 teams at the All-Ohio Championships on Saturday at Ohio Wesleyan's Shelby Stadium.
The Polar Bears (12-4 overall) scored 61.5 points during the meet.
Denison won the team title with 153.5 points. Case Western Reserve was second with 132 points, and Otterbein was third with 95.5 points.
ONU tallied four top-three finishes at the meet.
Sophomore Tyrese Barker (Columbus/Bishop Hartley) finished second in the 110-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of :15.16, which ranks fifth all-time at ONU. Barker was also fifth in the high jump with a mark of 1.88 meters and seventh in the 200 in :22.45.
The team of junior David Gross (Prospect/Pleasant Local), freshmen Zach O'Neill (Holland/Maumee Valley Country Day) and Ben Zimmerer (Liberty township/Lakota West) and sophomore Ross Schlatter (Curtice/Genoa) placed second in the 4x400 relay in 3:22.78.
Schlatter added a third-place finish in the 400 in :49.93, and freshman Bryce Stuart (Lucasville/Valley) was third in the high jump with a mark of 1.88 meters.
Sophomore Landon Remmert (Marengo/Highland) was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in :56.58 and was sixth in the 110-meter hurdles in :16.11.
Freshman Evan Gomez (Farmington, N.M.) was fifth in the discus throw with a mark of 41.02 meters.
Junior Tommy Vetrovsky (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) was sixth in the javelin with a mark of 42.68 meters and seventh in the shot put with a mark of 13.22 meters.
Senior Nick Tangeman (Maria Stein/Marion Local) finished seventh in the long jump with a mark of 6.42 meters and was eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.80 meters.
Freshman Jacob Clouse (Alvada/New Riegel) was seventh in the 1,500 in 4:07.39.
The Polar Bears' scoring was rounded out by six additional eighth-place finishes.
In a split-squad weekend, some ONU student-athletes competed at the Bucknell (Pa.) Bison Classic on Saturday.
Junior Braden Schaser (Fostoria/Lakota) placed 36th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a personal-best time of 9:37.47, which ranks seventh all-time at ONU.
Sophomore Ryan Massie (Beavercreek) was fifth in the 1,500 in 3:57.14.
In the 5,000, junior Kyle Roth (Rockford/Parkway) was 10th in 15:14.19, and junior Jared Swartz (Columbia Station/Columbia) was 12th in 15:15.10.
Senior Brandt Marshall (Orange Twp./Cory-Rawson) was 11th in the pole vault with a mark of 4.25 meters.
The Bucknell Bison Classic concludes on Sunday.
