Meet Preview: The Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field team is hosting the two-day Polar Bear Final Qualifier meet on Friday and Saturday … On Friday, the heptathlon/pentathlon events begin at 12 p.m., and the distance medley relays begin at 5:30 p.m. … On Saturday, the heptathlon events begin at 9 a.m., the field events begin at 12 p.m. and the running events begin at 1 p.m. … This is Northern's final meet before the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships, which are scheduled for March 10-11 in Birmingham, Ala. … Nationally, the top 20 individuals and top 12 relay teams in each event based on top performances from this season will qualify for the NCAA Championships … The Polar Bears currently have two student-athletes ranked inside the top 20 in their respective events … Junior Keegan Digby ranks fourth nationally in the shot put with a mark of 17.13 meters, which is the ONU record … Digby owns the school record in both the indoor and outdoor shot put, as he set the new outdoor record of 16.38 meters at last season's NCAA Championships en route to earning All-American status … Sophomore Jordan Dean ranks 17th nationally in the 400 meters with a converted time of :48.32 … Dean owns the school record in the 400 with a time of :48.87 … The Polar Bears are coming off the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships last Friday and Saturday where they scored 90 points and finished third of 10 teams … Digby won the OAC title in the shot put for the second straight year … Dean was a two-time All-OAC performer in the 400 and 4x400 relay … Junior Trey Myers was also a two-time All-OAC honoree (800, 4x400 relay) … Other All-OAC honorees included seniors Brooks Blakeley (DMR) and Alan Dravenstott (DMR), junior David Gross (4x400 relay), sophomores Trey Masterson (5,000) and Ryan Massie (DMR) and freshmen Zach O'Neill (4x400 relay) and Ben Zimmerer (DMR).
Head Coach Jason Maus: Maus is in his 14th season as the head coach at ONU … He owns a 599-145 overall record indoors for an .805 winning percentage and a 508-142-2 overall record outdoors for a .781 winning percentage.
