Men's Track and Field earns trio of All-OAC accolades on opening day of 2023 OAC Track and Field Championships

BEREA — Sophomores Trey Masterson (Tiffin/Hopewell-Loudon) and Jordan Dean (Euclid/Villa Angela Saint Joseph) and the DMR team earned All-Conference honors to lead the Ohio Northern men on the first day of the 2023 Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday at Baldwin Wallace's Lou Higgins Center.
The Polar Bears (14-0 overall) are fourth of 10 teams with 34 points after seven of the 19 events.
Masterson was second in the 5,000-meter run in a career-low 14.36.01.
Dean was third in the 400 in :49.09, just .22 of a second off his school record 49.87 set earlier this season.
The distance medley relay team of senior Brooks Blakeley (Versailles), freshman Ben Zimmerer (Liberty Township/Lakota West), senior Alan Dravenstott (Medina) and sophomore Ryan Massie (Beavercreek) earned All-OAC kudos with a third-place finish in 10:30.23
Junior All-American Keegan Digby (Bowling Green/Otsego) and junior Tommy Vetrovsky (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) each scored points with top-8 finishes in the weight throw.
Digby was fourth with a toss of 17.04 meters (55'-11") and Vetrovsky was sixth with an effort of 16.53 meters (54-'2").
Senior Brandt Marshall (Orange Township/Cory-Rawson) was fifth in the pole vault by clearing 4.16 meters (13'-7.75"). Junior Brandon Wise (Goshen, Ind./Concord) also cleared 4.16 meters and finished seventh.
Mount Union leads the team standings with 92 points, John Carroll is second with 41 points and Wilmington is third with 38 points.
The top three finishers in each event earn All-Conference honors.
The second and final day of the Championships will get underway Saturday at 10 a.m.
