Keegan Digby shatters school record in shot put, leads Men's Track and Field at Wittenberg Invitational

SPRINGFIELD — Junior Keegan Digby (Bowling Green/Otsego) shattered his own school record in the shot put by more than a foot, leading the Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field team at the non-scoring Wittenberg Invitational on Saturday at the Steemer Center.
Digby put the shot 56' 2/5" (17.13 meters), a full half meter and 17 inches further that the previous record of 16.70 meters.
This marks the third time this season that Digby has broken the school record
Digby, who had a school-record throw of 16.43 meters at the Muskingum Invitational on Jan. 28, broke that mark with a toss of 16.70 meters at Ashland on Feb. 4.
He currently ranks third nationally in the event.
Digby also finished second in the weight throw with a toss of 17.10 meters.
Senior Brandon Berry, senior Hunter Kesler (Oakwood/Paulding), sophomore Daniel Vitelli (Amherst/Steele) and freshman Ben Zimmerer (Liberty Township/Lakota West) won the 4x200-meter relay in 1:32.24, edging two other ONU teams and Defiance in the race.
Northern finished 2-3-4 in the 500 run.
Sophomore Mitchel Vance (Bellefontaine/Benjamin Logan) was second in 1:09.33, sophomore Landon Remmert (Marengo/Highland) was third in 1:10.06 and freshman Riley Beasley (Palatine, Ill.) was fourth in 1:11.38.
Junior Trey Myers (Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne) was second in the 1000 in 2:32.03, followed in third by senior Alan Dravenstott (Medina) in 2:36.55.
Senior Brandt Marshall (Orange Twp./Cory-Rawson) was second in the pole vault with a career-best mark of 4.49 meters.
Sophomore Trey Masterson (Tiffin/Hopewell-Loudon) was second in the 3000 in 8:24.88.
Sophomore Jordan Dean (Euclid/Villa Angela Saint Joseph) was third in the 200 in :22.17, which is the second-fastest mark in ONU history.
Junior David Gross (Prospect/Pleasant Local) was third in the 400 in :50.28.
In the triple jump, senior Nick Tangeman (Maria Stein/Marion Local) was third with a leap of 12.77 meters.
Senior Vini Souza (Lima/Spencerville) was third in the 60 in :06.98.
Sophomore Tyrese Barker (Columbus/Bishop Hartley) had a pair of fourth place finishes in the 60 hurdles (:08.64) and the high jump (1.86 meters).
The Polar Bears return to action on Friday and Saturday when they compete at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at Baldwin Wallace.
