David Gross wins 500-meter run, leads Men's Track and Field at Tiffin Open
TIFFIN - Junior David Gross (Prospect/Pleasant Local) took home the win in the 500-meter dash led the Ohio Northern Men's Track and Field team at the Tiffin Open on Saturday afternoon.
Gross paced the field in a personal-best 1:09.54. Freshman Ben Zimmerer (Liberty Township/Lakota West) was second with a personal-best time of 1:10.76 and senior Alan Dravenstott took third in the event in a personal best 1:11.76.
The Polar Bears added top-3 finishes in four other events.
The distance medley relay team of sophomore Corey Rinehart (Galena/Olentangy Berlin), Gross, senior Brooks Blakeley (Versailles), and sophomore Trey Masterson (Tiffin/Hopewell Loudon) claimed victory in 10:36.52. That time is currently second in the OAC.
In the 1,000-meter run, senior Connor Lamison (Valencia, Pa./Beaver Local) was second in 2:44.89 and junior Canyon Neundorfer (Belleville, Tx./St. John) was third in 2:46.45.
A second DMR team of sophomore J.T. Basco (Painesville/Thomas W Harvey), Neundorfer, Dravenstott, and freshman Jacob Clouse (Alvada/New Reigel) was third in 10:52.53
Fifth-year senior Caden Sauerbrey (Desden/Tri-Valley) was third in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:45.20.
Senior Nick Tangeman was third in the triple jump with a leap of 12.50 meters.
The Polar Bears return to action Saturday when they travel to Springfield for the Wittenberg Invitational.
