Meet Preview: The Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field team is competing in the two-day Jud Logan Light Giver Open at Ashland University on Friday and Saturday … The team was originally scheduled to host the Joe Banks Invitational on Saturday, but that meet was canceled … On Friday, field events begin at 2 p.m. with track events starting at 4 p.m. … On Saturday, field events begin at 11 a.m. with track events starting at 11:30 a.m. … Spectator tickets are $11 for adults and $6 for children … ONU is ranked No. 8 in the Great Lakes Region in the Week 2 USTFCCCA poll, which was released on Monday … Northern is coming off a first-place finish in the 10-team Muskingum Invitational last Saturday … The Polar Bears scored 162.5 points with Otterbein placing second with 135 points and Carnegie Mellon (Pa.) placing third with 107 points … Junior Keegan Digby broke his own school record in the shot put, which he set at 16.26 meters the week prior in the Larry Cole Invitational, to win the event with a throw of 16.43 meters … That mark currently leads the Ohio Athletic Conference and ranks fourth nationally in Division III this season … Digby owns the school record in both the indoor and outdoor shot put, as he set the new outdoor record of 16.38 meters at last season's NCAA Championships en route to earning All-American status … Digby also competed in the weight throw on Saturday, finishing second with a mark of 16.57 meters … Digby's top mark in the weight throw this season, 16.80 meters, ranks fourth in the OAC this season and is tied for fifth all-time at ONU … The Polar Bears posted first-place finishes in two other events on Saturday … Junior Trey Myers won the 500 meters in 1:07.25, which is the top time in the OAC thus far this season … Senior Hunter Kesler, freshman Zach O'Neill and sophomores Mitchel Vance and Jordan Dean won the 4x400 relay in 3:25.85, which ranks third in the OAC … Sophomore Thomas Masterson added a second-place finish in the 5,000 meters in a personal-best time of 14:51.32, which ranks second all-time at ONU … The Polar Bears also posted seven third-place finishes at the meet … Dean's season-best time of :22.53 in the 200 meters ranks third in the OAC … Sophomore Ryan Massie's season-best time of 2:35.51 in the 1,000 meters ranks third in the OAC.
Head Coach Jason Maus: Maus is in his 14th season as the head coach at ONU … He owns a 592-143 overall record indoors for an .805 winning percentage and a 508-142-2 overall record outdoors for a .781 winning percentage.
