National Championships Preview: Senior Andrew Buderer and sophomore Keegan Digby will represent the Ohio Northern men's track and field team this week at the 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio … The meet is scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday and is being hosted by the University of Mount Union and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission … The top 20 student-athletes in each event and top 16 relay teams nationwide qualified for the meet … The top eight finishers in each event earn All-American honors … Digby will compete in the shot put, which begins at 11:30 a.m. on Friday … Buderer will compete in the pole vault, which begins at 12 p.m. on Saturday … Digby set a new school record with his throw of 16.34 meters in the shot put at the Mike Becraft Invitational on April 23 and enters the national meet as the No. 10 seed in the event … Digby is the 2022 Ohio Athletic Conference champion in both the indoor and outdoor shot put … Digby is looking to become ONU's first All-American in the shot put in what marks his first appearance in the national meet … Buderer qualified for the national meet with a mark of 4.86 meters in the pole vault at the Mount Union Last Chance meet on May 19 and enters as the No. 17 seed in the event … Buderer's mark of 4.86 meters ranks third all-time at ONU … Buderer, who qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in 2020 before the event was canceled, is a seven-time All-OAC performer in indoor and outdoor track and field, including OAC championships in the 2020 and 2021 indoor pole vault and 2021 outdoor pole vault … Buderer is looking to join Ben Shaffer and Ken McGowan as Polar Bears to earn All-American status in the pole vault … Shaffer was a four-time All-American ('95, '96, '97, '98), and McGowan was an All-American in 1994.
Head Coach Jason Maus: Maus is in his 13th season as the head men's track and field coach at ONU … He owns a 508-142-2 overall record outdoors, a winning percentage of .781.
