Men’s Outdoor Track and Field posts 5 first-place finishes to close Oberlin Invitational

OBERLIN — The Ohio Northern men's outdoor track and field team won five events on Saturday to close the two-day Bob Kahn Invitational at Kahn Track on the campus of Oberlin College.
Fifth-year seniors Travis Sutter (Sharpsburg/Ft. Recovery) and Jack Lehr (York, Pa./Dallastown), senior Sam Krabacher (Hamilton/Badin) and sophomores Trey Myers (Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne) and Keegan Digby (Bowling Green/Otsego) posted first-place finishes in their respective events at the meet, which was not team scored.
Sutter won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:51.21, and Lehr won the discus throw with a distance of 37.39 meters.
Krabacher won the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:04.57, Myers won the 800 meters in 1:57.01, and Digby won the shot put with a throw of 15.19 meters.
Digby's mark was a personal-best and ranks third all-time at ONU.
The Polar Bears added nine more top-three finishes.
Junior Breydan Hann (Wooster) placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:54.52.
Freshman Ross Schlatter (Curtice/Genoa) finished second in the 400 meters with a time of :53.40.
Sophomore Gabe Hensley placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 11.82 meters, and junior Nick Tangeman finished second in the high jump with a mark of 1.80 meters.
Lehr placed third in the shot put with a throw of 12.90 meters, and sophomore Tommy Vetrovsky finished third in the discus throw with a mark of 36.67 meters.
Freshman Ryan Massie (Beavercreek) was third in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:05.56, and freshman Tyrese Barker (Reynoldsburg/Bishop Hartley) added a third-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.75 meters.
The 4x400 relay team of Myers, Schlatter and sophomores Canyon Neundorfer (Bellville/St. John) and Ian Wallace (Tontogany/Otsego) also finished third, posting a time of 3:32.25.
Sophomore Braden Schaser (Fostoria/Lakota) placed fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:10.52, freshman Thomas Masterson (Tiffin/Hopewell-Loudon) was fourth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:06.19, and sophomore David Gross (Prospect/Pleasant Local) was fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:01.03.
ONU tallied four more top-five finishes.
Sophomore Owen Schoonover (Lima/Shawnee) was fifth in the long jump with a distance of 5.42 meters.
Freshmen Justin Pate (Vincent/Warren) was fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:36.34.
Freshman Mitchel Vance (Bellefontaine/Benjamin Logan) was fifth in the 400 meters with a time of :54.19.
Freshman Cooper Koch (Waynesville) was fifth in the discus with a throw of 36.45 meters.
The Polar Bears return to action on Monday with select team members competing in the Indiana Tech Invitational.
