Dean sets school record in the 200, Buderer wins the Pole Vault to lead Men's Indoor Track & Field on day one of Hillsdale (Mich.) Invitational

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Sophomore Nate Dean (Euclid/Villa Angela Saint Joseph) set a school record in the 200 and Andrew Buderer (Oak Harbor) won the pole vault to lead the Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field team on the first day of the Hillsdale (Mich.) Wide Track Classic on Friday at the Biermann Center.
Dean won the 200-meter dash in a school record :22.30 and Buderer won the pole vault by clearing a career-best 4.85 meters (15'-11").
Dean broke the previous record of 22:38 set by Evan Hayman in 2011.
Sophomore Luke Shellhaas (Greenville/Versailles) finished third in the pole vault by clearing 4.27 meters (14'-0").
ONU also had a pair of top-10 finishes in the 5,000-meter run.
Junior Dylan McKean (Warren/Champion) was eighth in 16:23.34 and sophomore Caden Sauerbrey (Dresden/Tri-Valley) was ninth in 16:40.60.
The distance medley relay team of junior Jordan Green (Wooster), freshman Selorm Adehe (Grove City/Central Crossing), senior Andrew Shelton (Williamsville, N.Y./South) and junior Sam Krabacher (Hamilton/Badin) was sixth in 10:49.17.
The second and final day of the Hillsdale Classic will get underway on Saturday at 10 am.
