Men's Track & Field celebrates Senior Day by winning the Polar Bear Invitational

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's track and field team finished 1st of 10 teams Saturday afternoon at the Polar Bear Invitational hosted at Kerscher Stadium.
Northern won the meet with 161.5 points, while Albion took second with 117.5 points.
Sophomore Bobby Borger won the 1,500-meter run in 4:06.00, while sophomore Conner Karg won the 400-meter dash in 49.57.
Freshman Ian McVey also claimed a first place finish in the meet, winning the 800-meter run in 1:58.76.
In the 400-meter hurdles, sophomore Brandon Emert won the event in 55.15.
In the 100-meter dash, the Polar Bears finished second and third as senior Christian Rupe claimed second in 10.83 and senior Jojuan Fisher claimed third in 11.05.
Rupe also garnered a second place finish in the 200-meter dash in 22.07.
In the pole vault, senior Brandon Ike finished second with a height of 15 feet 5.5 inches.
Junior Lucas Shumate finished third in the hammer throw with a distance of 185 feet 8 inches and claimed a fifth place finish in the javelin with a toss of 147 feet 7 inches.
Juinior Andrew Harden finished third in the 800-meter run in 1:59.29.
The 4x400-meter relay team of sophomore Logan Perry, freshman Spencer Schulze, sophomore Even Murtha and sophomore Samuel Boyd took fourth in 3:41.38.
In the 1,500-meter run, sophomore Alec Lunney finished third in 4:09.70, followed by Boyd in fourth in 4:10.13, freshman Spencer Schulze in fifth in 4:12.49, junior Cully Gordon in sixth in 4:13.51 and sophomore Evan Murtha in seventh in 4:15.48.
Sophomore Tyler Kennedy led ONU in the 5,000-meter run finishing fifth in 16:26.12, followed by senior Matthew Ernstes in sixth in 17:03.66, senior Michael Potter in seventh in 17:15.20 and sophomore Dustin Lumadue in tenth in 18:19.60.
Turner finished fifth in the 100-meter dash in 11.20, while freshman Kody Calkins took fifth in the discus with a toss of 143 feet 3 inches.
In the 200-meter dash, Karg took sixth in 22.69, while Turner claimed tenth in 22.83.
Freshman Avery Meadows led the Polar Bears in the long jump finishing sixth with a leap of 20 feet 4.50 inches, followed by freshman Jamell Florence in seventh with a jump of 19 feet 9.75 inches and sophomoe William Wilson in ninth with a distance of 19 feet 7.50 inches.
Senior Dan Sowa, senior William Huddelston, Ernstes and Potter took sixth in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:51.13.
Senior Steven Gohrband finished sixth in the pole vault clearing a height of 13 feet 11.75 inches, while sophomore Alex Sibila took sixth in the high jump with a jump of 6 feet 1.25 inches.
In the 400-meter dash, freshman Corey Briggs finished seventh in 52.88.
The Polar Bears claimed three top-ten finishes in the long jump, freshman Avery Meadows in sixth with a leap of 20 feet 4.50 inches, freshman Jamell Florence in seventh with a jump of 19 feet 9.75 inches and Wilson in ninth with a leap of 19 feet 7.50 inches.
Senior Eric Wymer finished seventh in the 800-meter run in 2:00.37, while sophomore Luke Bogdanovich finished eighth in the javelin throw with a distance of 139 feet 1 inch.
Sophomore Brandon Emert finished ninth in the 100-meter dash in 11.47.
Junior Kase Schalois and sophomore Matt Molinaro competed at the Jesse Owens Track Classic hosted by Ohio State University.
Schalois finished sixth in the 3,000 steeplechase with a personal best time of 9:18.26.
Molinaro claimed a fourth place finish in the 800-meter run, running a season best of 1:50.20.
The Polar Bears return to action next Friday and Saturday as they compete in the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Wilmington.
