Men's Track & Field gets two new NCAA provisional marks at North Central's Dr. Keeler Invitational
NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The Ohio Northern men's track and field team remain strong down the stretch of the 2011 season with a solid performance at the Dr. Keeler Invitational, Thursday and Friday at North Central (Ill.).
The 4x100 relay team of Ryan Fleming (Maitland, Fla./Lyman), Francisque Pierre-Jerome (Lauderhill, Fla./South Plantation), Evan Heyman (Norwalk/Monroeville) and Jacob Schwab (Willard/Monroeville) led the way with the highest finish for the Polar Bears, placing second in 41.48. The finish bests the team's previous NCAA provisional mark and is a mere 0.48 seconds from the automatic qualifying mark.
Fleming and Pierre-Jerome also placed in 100-meter dash, respectively, with Fleming finishing in 10.74 and Pierre-Jerome in his first NCAA provisional mark of his collegiate career in 10.79.
Senior Garrett Brown (Atwater/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) placed in fifth in 400-meter hurdles in 54.47, while sophomore Ben Ankrom (Circleville) finished in his best time of the season in the 1,500 in 3:53.95, good enough for 11th place.
The Polar Bears are back at North Central next weekend for the Dr. Gregory Invitational before finding out the field for the 2011 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the end of the month.
