Schwab, Steinbrunner compete in day 2 of NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships
COLUMBUS — Junior Jacob Schwab (Norwalk/Monroeville) and sophomore Alison Steinbrunner (New Carlisle/Tecumseh) each represented the Ohio Northern track & field teams at the 2011 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday evening, hosted by Capital University.
Schwab earned All-American status with an eighth place finish in the 400-meter dash in 49.86. He qualified to compete in the final race Friday evening after finishing in 49.77.
Steinbrunner made her second trip of the school year to the national stage, qualifying to compete in the 5,000 meter run; she finished 14th in 18:18.10. Steinbrunner initially qualified in the event in February at the Grand Valley State Big Meet, completing the race in the third fastest time among Division III runners at the time at 17:08.87.
Schwab and Steinbrunner now rejoin the other Polar Bear track & field athletes and turn their attention toward the outdoor season, which begins March 19 at the University of Cincinnati Early Bird meet.
