Bowsher breaks school record to lead Men's Track & Field at Dr. Keeler Invitational
NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Senior Alan Bowsher broke the school record he set previously this season in the 10,000-meter run, as several members of the Ohio Northern men's track and field team competed at the Dr. Keeler Invitational at North Central (Ill.) on Thursday and Friday.
The meet was a non-scoring event.
Bowsher's time of 30:34.73 betters the record-setting 30:40.81 he ran in the 10,000-meter run earlier this season. He placed third overall in the event with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Many other Polar Bears also had impressive performances.
The 4x100-meter relay team of junior Ryan Fleming, senior Joe Amstutz, junior Evan Heyman and sophomore Jacob Schwab placed fourth with a season-best 42.00.
Junior Garrett Brown also had a season-best performance in the 400-meter hurdles, placing sixth in 54.88.
Fleming also placed eighth in the 100-meter dash in 11.01, and Amstutz placed ninth in the 400-meter dash in 48.87.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Amstutz, junior Shane Huntley, Heyman and Brown placed tenth in their season-best 3:16.97.
Also placing tenth was freshman Ben Ankrom in the 1,500-meter run in 3:54.93, a season-best time for that event.
Ohio Northern will return to North Central again next Thursday to compete at the Gregory Invitational.
