Amstutz turns in two Top-3 finishes to lead Men's Indoor Track & Field to 5th-place finish at Tiger Invitational
GREENCASTLE, Ind.-The 4x200 meter relay team of senior Justin Linzy, sophomore Ryan Fleming, freshman Jake Schwab and junior Joe Amstutz placed second with a time of 1:31.92 to lead the Polar Bears to an overall 5th place finish at the Tiger Indoor Invitational Friday night.
The meet, hosted by DePauw (Ind.), consisted of twelve teams, with Division I Indiana State winning the meet with a score of 123 points. The Polar Bears posted a total of 43 points.
Amstutz also placed third in the 800-meter run in 1:58.76, while Linzy finished eighth in the 200-meter dash in 23.50.
Sophomores Shane Huntley and Andy Lammers also had impressive performances.
Huntley finished fourth in the 200-meter dash in 23.04 and seventh in the 400-meter dash in 51.46, while Lammers placed sixth in the pole vault with a vault of 14-05.25 and seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 40-11.00.
Finishing third for the Polar Bears was senior Eric Porter in the mile run with a time of 4:27.39, while freshman Nick Baker placed seventh in 4:31.99.
Sophomore Patrick Rachow rounded out two more seventh place finishes: running the 800-meter in 2:00.30 and teaming with senior Jeff Otte, junior Mike Johnson, and sophomore Travis Isenberg in the 4x400 meter to run a 3:35.97.
The Polar Bears will compete again at the All-Ohio Meet at Otterbein next Saturday.
