Track & Field sets eight PR's at North Central's (Ill.) Dr. Keeler Invitational
NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Freshman Dan Smith ran a personal best and an NCAA Provisional qualifying time of 3:54.59 in the 1,500-meter run to finish in 10th place and headline the Ohio Northern Track & Field team's success at the Dr. Keeler Invitational hosted by North Central (Ill.).
The men's and women's teams combined to set eight personal records during the meet.
For the men, junior Alan Bowsher and senior Paul Lewis each accomplished the feat in the 10,000-meter run and 5,000-meter runs, respectively.
Bowsher ran the 10,000 in 31:19.91 and finished in fifth place, while Lewis (27th) finished the 5,000 in 15:15.15.
All five participants from the women's team recorded personal bests, including junior Rachel Smith who was 13th in the 1,500-meter run in 4:44.62. Her time was less than a second off of the school record.
Also in the 1,500-meter run was sophomore Amy Davis who ran a career-best 4:58.36 and finished in 19th.
Senior Regina Bresson (15th), senior Erica Rumschlag (16th) and freshman Mallory Bloom (19th) all ran the 5,000-meter run, finishing in 18:35.67, 18:42.99 and 18:49.91, respectively.
The track squads will return to North Central next weekend before the NCAA Championships the following weekend at Marietta.
