Bio

Toma Hainline was hired in December 2022 as the assistant tennis coach for the Ohio Northern men’s and women’s teams. She comes to Ada after receiving the 2022 Northwestern Ohio High School Coach of the Year for her work at Celina High School. Over her career, she has coached high school tennis for more than 22 years at different high schools across Ohio and Indiana, including Wapakoneta, Greenville and Bishop Dwenger (Ft. Wayne) and has amassed a 338-228 dual match record.

In 2012, she was an assistant coach at UNOH in Lima and helped take the women’s team to its first NAIA Championship trip. She also helped the men’s team to a No. 20 national ranking.

Hainline played college tennis and basketball at The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) where she went to Nationals all four years and was an Academic All-American and amassed an 88-12 record (8 losses at Nationals). She won the district first singles and doubles titles all four years and holds the most wins at St. Francis. She was inducted into the University of St. Francis Hall of Fame in 1996 for both tennis and women’s basketball for all of her accomplishments.

As a high school student at Celina, she is the first and only girl to ever qualify to play in the OHSAA state championships, accumulating a record of 88-14 with 2 WBL championships. Toma resides in the Celina High School Hall of Fame for her accomplishments in tennis, basketball, track and softball.
