Men's Tennis opens spring break slate with 4-3 victory over Mary Hardin-Baylor

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team opened its spring break trip with a tight 4-3 victory over Mary Hardin-Baylor (Tex.) at the USTA National Tennis Center.
The Basics

Individual Highlights
- Junior T.J. Schultz (Grand Blanc, Mich.) went 2-0 to lead the Polar Bears.
- Schultz won 7-5, 2-6, 7-5 at No. 2 singles and combined with freshman Noah Boyce (Oakwood) to win 7-6(4) at No. 2 doubles.
- Senior Peyton Specht (Munster, Ind.) won 7-5, 7-5 at No. 1 singles.
- Sophomore Kessler Hackenberger (Tipp City/Tippecanoe) won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and senior Sam Sran (Punjab, India/St. Stephens and Gian Jyoti Global) won 6-1, 5-7, 7-5 at No. 6 singles.
Notables
- The Crusaders won the doubles point by taking the No. 1 and 3 doubles courts.
- Three of the six singles courts went three sets, with the Polar Bears winning two of them.
- The NCAA had adopted a 7-point team scoring system for Division III, where the three doubles contests only count for one team point as is used in NCAA Divisions I and II.
- Boyce leads the team with an 11-4 singles record and a 17-12 overall record.
- Third-year head coach Sean Swisher is 36-16 at the helm of the ONU men's tennis team, a winning percentage of .692.
