Men's Tennis finishes 3-0 weekend with 5-2 victory at Transylvania (Ky.)

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team capped off a 3-0 weekend with a 5-2 victory over the host school on the final day the Transylvania (Ky.) Winter Classic on Sunday.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (3-0 Overall); Transylvania (2-2 Overall).

Individual Highlights
- Sophomore Kessler Hackenberger (Tipp City/Tippecanoe) and freshman Noah Boyce (Oakwood) each went 2-0 on the day.
- Hackenberger won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and combined with freshman Jakub Wierzba (Bloomingdale, Ill/Lake Park) to win 6-4 at No. 3 doubles.
- Boyce won 6-1, 3-6, 10-2 at No. 4 singles and combined with junior T.J. Schultz (Grand Blanc, Mich.) to win 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.
- Sophomore Tyler Wood (Toledo/St. John's) won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.
- Sophomore Kosuke Asada (Findlay) won 6-0, 3-6, 12-10 at No. 6 singles.
Notables
- This is the first two of three matches ONU is scheduled to compete in over the weekend.
- Northern won the doubles point by taking two of the three doubles matches, then won four of the six singles courts to record the victory.
- The NCAA had adopted a 7-point team scoring system for Division III, where the three doubles contests only count for one team point as is used in NCAA Divisions I and II.
- Third-year head coach Sean Swisher is 35-14 at the helm of the ONU men's tennis team, a winning percentage of .714.
