Men's Tennis wraps up fall schedule at ITA Central Regional Tournament in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team wrapped up its 2024 fall schedule at the ITA Central Regional Championships on Friday and Saturday.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (0-0 Overall)
- Venue: Dwight Davis Tennis Center - St. Louis, Mo.
- The single-elimination tournament did not have any team scoring and was hosted by Washington (Mo.)
- Each singles player and doubles team was guaranteed at least two matches.
- The singles flight consisted of 96 players with those losing in the first round moving to a 64-man consolation bracket.
- The doubles flight consisted of 64 teams with those losing in the first round moving to a 32-man consolation bracket.
Singles Highlights
- Sophomore Tyler Wood (Toledo/St. John's) advanced to the second round with a 7-6, 2-6, 10-7 victory over Cole Shifferly of Wabash (Ind.)
- He then fell to Stefan Hster of Washington (Mo.) to finish the tournament with a 1-1 record.
- Junior T.J. Schultz (Grand Blanc, Mich.) and freshman Noah Boyce (Oakwood) each posted 0-2 records.
Doubles Highlights
- Boyce and sophomore Kessler Hackenberger (Tipp City/Tippecanoe) competed as a team, while Wood and Schultz competed as a team.
- Both pairs went 0-2 on the weekend.
Notables
- This is the third of three tournaments in which ONU will compete during its fall schedule.
- Third-year head coach Sean Swisher is 29-14 at the helm of the ONU men's tennis team, a winning percentage of .674.
