Freshman Noah Boyce wins C Singles flight, leads Men's Tennis at Hope (Mich.) Invitational

HOLLAND, Mich. — Freshman Noah Boyce (Oakwood) won the C Singles flight to lead the Ohio Northern men's tennis team at the Hope (Mich.) Invitational Friday and Saturday.
The Basics

- There were eight teams competing, with 16 or so players each in five singles flights and eight doubles teams in four doubles flights.

- Each doubles team was guaranteed three matches (including byes) in their respective flight, which determined places 1-8 in each flight.

- Freshman Noah Boyce (Oakwood) led the Polar Bears by winning C Singles flight with a 4-0 record.
- Sophomore Tyler Wood (Toledo/St. John's) was second in the B Singles Flight with a 3-1 mark.
- Junior T.J. Schultz (Grand Blanc, Mich.) was third in the B Singles Flight with a 3-1 mark.
- Junior Nico Rogel (Alicante, Spain/Hoosac) was fourth in the D Singles.
Doubles Highlights
- Senior Sam Sran (Punjab, India/St. Stephens and Gian Jyoti Global) and sophomore Kessler Hackenberger (Tipp City/Tippecanoe) finished second in the B Doubles flight with a 2-1 record.
- Freshman Jakub Wierzba (Bloomingdale, Ill./Lake Park) and Rogel were second in the C Doubles flight with a 2-1 record.
- Senior Peyton Specht (Munster, Ind.) and Wood were sixth in the A Doubles flight with a 2-2 mark.
Notables
- This is the second of three tournaments in which ONU will compete during its fall schedule.
- Third-year head coach Sean Swisher is 29-14 at the helm of the ONU men's tennis team, a winning percentage of .674.
