Five Polar Bears named All-OAC in Men's Tennis; Swisher named OAC Coach of the Year

ADA — Ohio Northern juniors Peyton Specht (Munster, Ind.) and Sam Sran (Punjab, India/St. Stephens and Gian Jyoti Global), sophomore T.J. Schultz (Grand Blanc, Mich.), and freshmen Tyler Wood (Toledo/St. John's) and Kessler Hackenberger (Tipp City/Tippecanoe) were named All-Ohio Athletic Conference in men's tennis for the 2024 season in voting conducted by the league's head coaches.
Second-year head coach Sean Swisher was also named the OAC Men's Tennis Coach of the Year.
2023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team selections Specht and Sran were named to First Team All-Conference along with Schultz.
Specht, a five-time OAC Player of the Week was named to First Team All-Conference after being named to Second Team his freshman and sophomore years. He ended the season with a record of 39-19, including 14-14 in singles play and team-best 25-5 in doubles. In his career, he is 101-54, including 49-28 in singles and 52-26 in doubles. He is now ranked 1st at in single-season doubles wins.
This also marks the third All-OAC honor for Sran, after being named to Second Team his freshman and sophomore years. He had a 8-16 record in both singles and doubles. In his career, he is 70-63 overall, including 47-31 in singles and 23-32 in doubles.
Schultz earned his first career All-OAC honor after going 17-7 in singles and 10-17 in doubles on the season for an overall record of 27-24. He has a career record of 19-13 in singles, 18-27 in doubles, and 37-39.
Wood and Hackenberger were both named to the All-OAC Second Team.
Wood had a 42-13 overall record in his first season, including 19-7 in singles and 23-6 in doubles. He led the team in singles wins and total wins.
Hackenberger finished his first season with a 17-3 singles record and 22-6 doubles record for an overall record of 39-9.
The Polar Bears ended the season with a 19-6 record, won the OAC Regular Season and OAC Tournament titles and a trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament under second-year head coach Sean Swisher.
