LIMA/ASHLAND — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team won its third consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference regular season title with a 9-0 victory over Mount Union in Lima and a 9-0 win over Capital in Ashland on Saturday.

  • The Polar Bears celebrated Senior Day and clinched a share of the OAC regular season title with the 9-0 win.

  • Specht won 7-6(3), 6-0 at No. 1 singles.
  • Junior T.J. Schultz (Grand Blanc, Mich.) won 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 at No. 2 singles.
  • Wood won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
  • Hackenberger posted a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles.
  • Desai won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.
  • Swisher won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.

Capital Match - W, 9-0

  • The Polar Bears won the OAC regular season title outright with the 9-0 win.
  • CU forfeited the Nos. 3 doubles and 6 singles courts as they only had five healthy players.
  • Specht and Wood won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles.
  • Sophomore Aaron Davis (Tipp City/Tippecanoe) and Spar won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles.
  • Specht won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles.
  • Schultz won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
  • Hackenberger won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
  • Sophomore Nico Rogel (Alicante, Spain/Hoosac) won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
  • Freshman Kosuke Asada (Findlay) won  6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 singles.

Notables

  • The Polar Bears won their third consecutive OAC Regular Season title and its 12th overall.
  • Northern will be the No. 1 seed in next week's OAC Tournament.
  • ONU is now 30-10 all-time against Mount Union, including a 16-4 margin at home.
  • Ohio Northern is now 40-19 all-time against Capital and is 3-0 in neutral site matches.
  • Hackenberger (17-2) and Wood (17-6) lead the team in singles victories this season.
  • Specht a team-best 22-5 doubles record and Hackenberger is a team-best 37-7 overall.
