Men's Tennis rolls to 7-2 victory over Indiana-East in home opener indoors

LIMA — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team swept the three doubles courts and went on to win 7-2 over NAIA foe Indiana-East in its home opener on Friday afternoon indoors at the Westwood Tennis Center.
The match was slated to be played outside at ONU's West Campus Courts, but a steady light rain throughout the day forced the contest indoors.

- The Polar Bears swept the three doubles courts.
- Freshmen Ashton Hesson (Grand Blanc, Mich.) and Kessler Hackenberger (Tipp City/Tippecanoe) scored the first piont with an 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles.
- Junior Sam Sran (Punjab, India/St. Stephens and Gian Jyoti Global) and sophomore T.J. Schultz (Grand Blanc, Mich.) won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles to make it 2-0.
- Juniors Drew Swisher (Findlay) and Peyton Specht (Munster, Ind.) wrapped up doubles play with an 8-7 (5) victory at No. 2.
- Senior Kavya Desai (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) put the Polar Bears up 4-1 with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles.
- The Red Wolves would win at No. 2 singles to pull within 4-2, but the Polar Bears would win the final three courts to claim the match.
- Sophomore Nico Rogel (Alicante, Spain/Hoosac) won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6, freshman Tyler Wood (Toledo/St. John's Jesuit) won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 and Schultz won 6-1, 6-3 to end the match at No. 4.
Notables
- This was the first ever meeting between the Polar Bears and the Red Wolves.
- Sean Swisher improved to 16-8 in his second season as head coach of the ONU men's tennis team.
