Men's Tennis runs win streak to four matches with 6-3 victory at Wittenberg

SPRINGFIELD — Senior Vinh Thai (Galloway/St.Charles) won at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles to lead the Ohio Northern men's tennis team to a 6-3 non-conference victory at Wittenberg on Wednesday at the Albright Tennis Center.
ONU improves to 17-4 overall and runs its winning streak to four matches, while the Tigers fall to 6-11.
Thai won 7-6, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and joined junior Matt Garcia (Downers Grove, Ill./South) to win 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.
Senior Zach Beaschler (Ada) and sophomore Drew Swisher (Findlay) also went 2-0 on the day.
Beaschler won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5 singles, Swisher won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 6 singles and the duo combined to win 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.
Northern led 2-1 after doubles, but WU won at Nos. 3 and 4 singles to grab a 3-2 lead.
Beaschler and Swisher gave ONU a 4-3 lead with their wins and Thai clinched the victory with a his win at No. 2 singles.
Senior Andrew Cochran (Wooster) wrapped up the match with a 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles.
The Polar Bears are scheduled to return to action Friday with an Ohio Athletic Conference match at Baldwin Wallace.
