Men's Tennis tops Rose-Hulman (Ind.) 7-2 for seventh consecutive victory

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Ohio Northern played its 11th consecutive men's tennis match away from home and extended its winning streak to seven matches with a 7-2 victory at Rose-Hulman (Ind.) on Saturday afternoon indoors at the Brickway Tennis Center.
The Polar Bears (13-3) won two of the three doubles courts and five of the six singles courts to post the win.
The Engineers fall to 4-6.
Senior Vinh Thai (Columbus/Galloway/Saint Charles) and junior Matt Garcia (Downers Grove, Ill./South) won 8-2 at No.1 doubles and senior Zach Beaschler (Ada) and freshman Drew Swisher (Findlay) won 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.
Thai made it 3-1 with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles and freshman Sam Sran (PB, India/St. Stephens and Gian Jyoti Global) made it 4-1 with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles.
RHIT won at No. 1 singles closed the match at 4-2 and Garcia clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles.
Swisher won 6-4, 7-5 at No. 6 singles and Beaschler rallied for a 3-6, 7-5, 10-7 win at No. 4 singles for ONU to wrap up the match.
The Polar Bears will return to the road next weekend with a tri-match at Denison with Ohio Athletic Conference foe Marietta on Saturday.
